I got this Compaq TC1000 with a battery that even quite still works (!) but turns out I probably won't be able to run modern X.Org on it with the touchscreen because for its Finepoint digitizer I may no longer get xserver-xorg-input-fpit working https://wiki.tinycorelinux.net/doku.php?id=dcore:hp-compaq_tc1000
I really hoped to use it with WindowMaker and its cute wmlongrun dockapp, with how Linux still has the longrun module (and there may be ones for FreeBSD too https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/pfsense-transmeta-and-freebsd.23811/ )
I may be stuck with Windows XP/2000 on it, will see if I get the Windows Journal program back when I QuickRestore it with the CD linked on Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compaq_tc1000
I guess I will have to see about using this tablet more with Windows, for XP ig there's no kernel extensions I'd need,
